About me

My name is Jacob Hanstad. I play professional football for Stabæk Fotball and I'm the founder of Indirekte AS.

Since I started devouring book after book on business in 2021, I've been involved in a number of exciting projects. I ran my own email business and later co-owned the marketing agency Box Marketing.

I've been involved in health and sport my whole life, and as a professional athlete I've been a customer of countless health and performance businesses: gyms, clinics, online programs, supplement brands, online stores and much more. And I saw that many of them were missing the same thing.

So over the past few years I've spent a lot of time and resources building expertise in a field that is often overlooked, but highly relevant for health and performance businesses.

The problem I became focused on

I often see good, genuinely valuable businesses with solid products and a large customer base that still find that:

  • Margins are lower than they'd like, and/or cash flow is uneven and stressful.
  • Growth flattens out or stalls.
  • There's too little left at the bottom to really invest in growth.

If you don't have good margins, you can't afford to spend much on acquiring new customers. And as competition keeps getting tougher, you get outcompeted by players with bigger margins, no matter how good your marketing is.

Once you build the system that gets customers to spend more with you, this turns around. You can outbid your competitors for attention, invest more in your service and attract the best customers, who in turn buy more often, stay longer and spend more.

Since you've already paid to bring the customer in, most of this extra value is pure profit.

What I actually do

I help health and performance businesses with recurring revenue (memberships, subscriptions or repeat purchases) get former, current and new customers to buy more services, at higher prices, more often and for longer.

The first 90-day sprint I ran (Fotballprogresjon Norge) produced more than $20,000 in additional profit, without a bigger ad budget.

Why “Indirekte”

I started Indirekte AS because I believe the best health and performance businesses deserve to win.

By making it easier for your customers to invest more in themselves, you maximize the chance that they reach their goals, whether that's feeling better, performing better or reaching their athletic potential, while you make more money.

By helping the right health and performance businesses, I indirectly help their customers reach their health goals. (“Indirekte” is Norwegian for “indirectly”.)
